Welcome to the website of the Alaska Baptist Convention

And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate. And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this [fellow] perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.” Luke 23:1-2

They had done nothing of the sort. They had only found him perverting their perversion. They had used the law as a tool to dominate, intimidate, and humiliate. They had made a mockery of the things that God had established as a means of learning of their dependence on Him. And Jesus challenged their right to do so. What he was perverting was not their nation but their hypocrisy and autocracy. Another lie they told was that he forbade giving tribute to Caesar. It is amazing the damage we can do by lying. The only true thing they said was that he claimed to be Christ a King. They even messed that up. He was not Christ a King but Christ the King.
